Farming in Ladakh with Ladakhi family

 

Ladakh is an example of excellent traditional green farming. For centuries the people here worked hard for survival by farming and hence perfected the art of farming in such high altitude harsh and cold terrain. Living with such families and learning to live the life of Ladakhis is the main objective of farm volunteering in Ladakh. Beside living with a Ladakh farming family and learning the art of farming in Ladakhi tradition, volunteers will also have the opportunity to see some of Ladakh’s most interesting places of interests.

 

Day1: Arrival in Leh and transfer to Mahabodhi Global Family Guest House. Rest

 

Day2: In Mahabodhi campus and Leh

 

Day3: Sight seeing of Shey Palace, Thiksay and Hemis Monasteries.o/n Mahabodhi.

 

Day4: Trek from Likir to Yangthang. o/n Village Homestay.

 

Day5: Trek from Yanthang to Hemis Shukpachan. o/n Village Homestay.

 

Day6: Trek from Hemis Shukpachan to Tingmosgang. o/n Village Homestay.

 

Day7: Meet the village farming family. Introduction and meetings!

 

Day8: Rest/ Get oriented with the village.

 

Day 10-25: Volunteering in Ladakh for the Farm Projects – with the family.

 

Day26: Drive to Leh, on the way visit Lamayuru, Alchi. o/n at Mahabodhi.

 

Day27: On your own in Leh or at Mahabodhi.

 

Day28: Fly to Delhi
