Phyang to Hundar (8 days - Strenuous trek)
Day 1: Leh - Phyang - Phyang Phu (4 hrs): Drive to Phyang monastery, trek to Phyang Phu base camp. Overnight at camp.
Day 2: Phyang Phu - South base of La Sermo Peak (5 hrs) Trek to the base of La-Sermo Pass (5400m) and stay overnight.
Day 3: South base of La - Sermo to North base of La Sermo over La -Sermo pass (7 hrs): Start early and cross La Sermo pass. The pass offers stunnig panaromic views of the surrounding peaks of the Indus and Shayok valleys. The campsite is situated in the a beautiful meadow.
Day 4: North base - Hundar Upper Dok (6 hrs) Walk through the meadows, flowers, and sometimes rocks along the Hundar stream. The trek reaches Hundar Dok village. The campsite is just above the village of Dok Gongma.
Day 5: Hundar Gongma - Skarchen (5 hrs) Trek through the hamlets of Dok Gongma, Dok Yokma and Wachan. Camp at Skarchen.
Day 6: Skarchen - Hundar (4 hrs) This is the last day of hiking through the beautiful Hundar gorge, which opens up just before descending to Hundar bridge. Before the final descent, you will have a great view of Saser Kangri Peak (7672m). You can also take a 30 minutes walk to the sand dunes and enjoy the famous double bulled camel ride.
Day 7: Hundar - Diskit Drive to Panamik hot spring on the way to Sumur village and Samtanling monastery. Visit Diskit monastery. Stay overnight at Diskit.
Day 8: Diskit-Khardong La - Leh Drive to leh over Khardung La Pass (5606 m), the highest motorable road in the world. Overnight in Leh.
